Pack like a professional with the following tutorial

Packing China

  •  Prepare your packing area around waist height to avoid stretching and risk of injury to your back

  • Make up your first carton and fold the tops over, then make up another carton and sit this on top of the first.  This will allow you to place items in the box without over stretching.  Once full replace the empty bottom carton with the packed carton and start again.

  • Place a layer of scrunched paper or tissue in the bottom of your carton

  • Start with heavier items such as plates on the bottom, lighter items such as cups, saucers and glasses on the top

  • Wrap plates individually and place in the carton on their side (this is their strongest position)

  • Fill any gaps with dunnage to stop movement

  • Lay scrunched paper  on top and start the next layer using lighter items

  • As items get smaller and the layers get lighter you can save on packing paper by two or three saucers in a single sheet

  • All items have different elements of risk i.e teapots, cups etc have protruding handles. These handles should be padded out with scrunched paper and then wrapped

  • Fill any gaps with scrunched paper to prevent movement

  • Fill the top of the carton with scrunched paper and seal

  • Label the carton as Fragile
