Packing Books

Pack like a professional with the following tutorial

  • Prepare your packing area around waist height to avoid stretching and risk of injury to your back

  • Make up your first carton and fold the tops over, then make up another carton and sit this on top of the first.  This will allow you to place items in the box without over stretching.  Once full replace the empty bottom carton with the packed carton and start again

  • Use small and sturdy cartons

  • Pack your books in layers or rows, face up or upright depending on the size

  • Hardback books are heavier and should be packed in the bottom of the carton with lighter books on top

  • High value books should be protected with paper or tissue to avoid damage and should be layed flat

  • Fill any gaps to prevent movement

  • Repeatedly check the weight of the carton whilst loading to prevent injury when lifting

  • Seal the carton and mark as Heavy
